El Centro, California - Thursday, Representative Juan Vargas (CA-51) hosted a press conference to announce his plan to introduce the Asthma Care and Prevention in Rural Communities Act. This legislation will be introduced with original cosponsors Rep. Eliot L. Engel (NY-16) and Rep. TJ Cox (CA-21) when the House returns to session in September. Reps. Vargas, Engel and Cox are Members of the House Asthma and Allergy Caucus.

El Centro, California - Imperial County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Unit is reminding drivers to watch their speed around schools.

El Centro, California - Yesterday, an officer conducted  a traffic stop on a white 2018 Honda Civic in the area of Dogwood and Main Street.  The driver was identified as Vanessa D. Reyna-Galaviz, a 29 year old El Centro resident.  During the stop the officers on scene searched the vehicle and later discovered approximately 23 pounds of what was believed to have been methamphetamine concealed in multiple packages and in multiple areas of the vehicle including a child safety seat.

El Centro, California - Last night, at approximately 10:00PM, Officers were dispatched to the 1600 Block of Adams in reference to a vehicle which collided with a bicyclist.  The vehicle was traveling west in the number one, far left lane, of  Adams Avenue.  The bicyclist was traveling east on the north side of Adams and rode off the curb and entered the roadway into oncoming traffic.

El Centro, California - This morning, just after midnight, El Centro Police patrol officers were dispatched to the area of 1200 Adams regarding a female who had possibly been stabbed. Units arrived in the area and were unable to locate the female victim. Officers conducted additional follow up and drove to the Emergency Room at El Centro Regional Medical Center to see if a victim could be located. When an officer arrived at the ER, a cab also arrived with a female later identified as a 22 year old transient from El Centro, and was a victim of a stabbing. 

Imperial, California - Wednesday, at approximately 11:19 a.m., Imperial County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Imperial Valley College (IVC) in reference to a subject making online threats to harm IVC students and staff. Deputies received information that the suspect sent text messages containing photos of the campus and several firearms.
