Sacramento, California - As water levels in the Salton Sea continue to drop, exposing thousands of acres of barren shoreline, California Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced action on legislation – AB 1095 by Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) – and a series of measures to help protect Salton Sea habitat and air quality in nearby communities.

Holtville, California - A jury awarded City of Holtville the sum of $665,588.00 against Black Dog Farms of California after an eight day trial.  The jury determined that in August, 2009, Black Dog Farms negligently started a fire which spread to a nearby river bottom and seriously damaged the iconic railroad trestle over the Alamo River. 

Holtville, California - Saturday, Imperial County Sheriff Deputies assigned to the City of Holtville, where patrolling the area of Pine Avenue and 5th Street. The Deputies contacted Tina Sue Smith, who was suspected of a theft, which had occurred earlier in the day.

San Diego, California - An Imperial Valley businessman pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to a long-running conspiracy involving money laundering and the trafficking of millions of dollars of counterfeit cell phone parts.

Salton City, California - El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Indio Station arrested a man suspected of drug smuggling at the Highway 86 checkpoint today after they discovered packages of methamphetamine hidden in his vehicle’s gas tank.

El Centro, California – The Bureau of Justice Assistance, part of U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (OJP), awarded Imperial County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO) with the Body-Worn Camera Pilot Implementation Program grant in the amount of $74,770. OJP guidelines and requirements were a competitive and stringent process. OJP received 285 application submissions. California was awarded with six (6) grants; ICSO was one of the awarded recipients.
