Imperial, California - The Imperial Irrigation District is calling for an amendment to a misleading report recently released by the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General, which suggests that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) should seek to recover grant funds that were paid to the district for repairs after the April 4, 2010, earthquake.

Salton City, California - Saturday, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Indio Station arrested a suspected male drug smuggler at the Highway 86 checkpoint after discovering twenty packages of drugs concealed inside the fire wall of the vehicle he was driving.

Imperial, California - On Friday, a Sheriff Deputy was flagged down in the Salton Sea Beach area in reference to a just occurred stabbing. Victim and witnesses reported the suspect pulled out a knife and forced himself into their residence. The suspect attempted to stab a female however the male victim stepped in and stopped the suspect thus sustaining a wound to the abdomen.

Sacramento, California - Earlier today at the State Capitol, Marjo Mello of Brawley was honored as the 56th Assembly District’s 2015 Woman of the Year.  Selected for the honor by Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia, Ms. Mello joined women from all over the state to be recognized for their contributions during a special Assembly Floor Session.
