Holtville, California - A jury awarded City of Holtville the sum of $665,588.00 against Black Dog Farms of California after an eight day trial. The jury determined that in August, 2009, Black Dog Farms negligently started a fire which spread to a nearby river bottom and seriously damaged the iconic railroad trestle over the Alamo River.
The City had acquired several properties from Union Pacific Railroad, including the trestle, in 2007 as an integral part of the Pete Mellinger/Alamo River Trail.
Holtville was represented by City Attorney’s Steven M. Walker & Martin A. Gonzalez of Walker & Driskill, PLC.
