Calexico, California - Thursday, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to commemorate the start of Phase 1 of the Calexico West Land Port of Entry (LPOE) modernization and expansion project. Guests from both the U.S. and Mexico joined GSA, CBP, and a number of distinguished guest speakers, including federal, state and local government leaders, in celebrating the start of construction.

El Centro, California - "Captured" The Sheriff’s Office is investigating an escape from the Herbert Hughes Correctional Center. During a routine facility count, floor officers discovered inmate Rafael Gomez date of birth 9/2/89 was unaccounted for. Gomez was arrested and booked by the California Highway Patrol on October 20, 2015 for CVC 2800.2(a) driving in willful or wanton disregard for safety of persons or property while fleeing from pursuing police officer and for PC 148(a) Resisting, delaying or obstructing officer.

Calexico, California - On April 2015 Imperial County Sheriff’s I.C.A.C. (Internet Crimes Against Children) Investigators began a Child Pornography Investigation within the City of Calexico. Investigators subsequently identified 51 year old Javier Quintero from Calexico as the suspect.
