Sacramento, California - A federal grand jury returned a four-count indictment Thursday against Josevan Arias, 25, of Posen, Illinois, and Elmer Rodriguez-Colio, 30, of Sacramento, charging both with conspiracy to distribute, and distribution of, heroin, and charging Arias separately with dealing firearms without a license, U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced.

San Francisco, California - Tuesday, former Informix executive Walter Konigseder appeared in federal court to face investment fraud charges laid out in an 11-count indictment filed in October of 2000, announced United States Attorney David L. Anderson and Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge John F. Bennett.

San Diego, California - Hardev Panesar of San Diego was sentenced Tuesday in federal court by U.S. District Judge Gonzalo P. Curiel to 91 months in custody for his leadership role in an immigration fraud scheme.

Knoxville, Tennessee - Two Tennessee doctors each pleaded guilty yesterday to one count of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

Phoenix, Arizona - On October 16, 2019, United States District Judge Diane J. Humetewa sentenced Tao Li, a 39-year-old Chinese national, to 40 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.  Li had previously pleaded guilty to conspiring to export military- and space-grade technology to the People’s Republic of China without a license in violation of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. 

Washington, DC - The Justice Department announced that in fiscal year 2019 (FY19), its U.S. Attorneys’ Offices prosecuted the highest number of immigration-related offenses since record keeping began more than 25 years ago. These numbers successfully reverse the trend in previous years of declining prosecutions for felony Illegal Reentry defendants, misdemeanor Improper Entry defendants and felony Alien Smuggling defendants.
