Brawley, California - Nearly 40 volunteers and community health educators will be gathering at Las Chabela’s Restaurant tomorrow for an Appreciation Breakfast being hosted by Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia. The annual event, held as part of California Promotoras Month, pays tribute to the contributions of community health workers (promotoras) and volunteers in the Imperial Valley.
“It is important that we celebrate the promotoras service and value they add to our communities. By helping people to remain healthy and providing access to care for those who are sick, they are on the front lines of health promotion and disease prevention.”
Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia will be joined by the offices of State Senator Ben Hueso and U.S. Congressman Juan Vargas who will be presenting each health worker and volunteer with a special recognition for the work they do in the community.
