Brawley, California - Friday afternoon, Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia and AT&T will present the Brown Bag Coalition, Spread the Love Charity, and House of Bread Ministries with $1,000 grants as part of AT&T’s “Investing in California” nonprofit awards initiative.

ABOUT HONOREES:

Brown Bag Coalition: A non-profit organization consisting of a group of caring individuals trying to make a difference in the lives of the homeless population in Calexico by providing dinner 365 days out of the year, rain or shine. This organization also has several events throughout the year like an Informational Resource Fair, Thanksgiving Dinner and Christmas Posada.  They provide showers, haircuts, clothing and toiletries. They solely rely on donations from community members and businesses.

Spread the Love Charity:  The Mission of Spread the Love Charity is to strengthen, unite and love their community.  They strengthen those who feel that the load of life is too heavy and unite as a community to help those who are less fortunate.  The non-profit organization provides hot meals at 6pm daily, rain or shine, holiday or weekday, to any individual that needs it since 2015. This organization has a center in El Centro, where homeless can go get snacks, drinks or just cool off during the summer heat.

House of Bread Ministries: A non-profit organization that provides hot meals to the homeless population or those less fortunate every Saturday morning for the past 15 years.  This organization also gives out food dispensaries and does so with the generous donations of the community, church members, Vons and Harvest Feeding.
