El Centro, California - Today, the Imperial County Board of Supervisors announced the appointment of Crystal Duran as the County Librarian to replace retiring current County Librarian Connie Barrington.  Ms. Duran will join the County of Imperial on March 4, 2016. 

Imperial, California - Today, the Imperial County Board of Supervisors approved the Imperial County Air Pollution Control Officer Brad Poiriez’s request to submit a grant application to the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) Carl Moyer Program for $329,999 and authorized utilization of DMV Surcharge Funds to provide the required matching funds.  In addition to the grant application approval, Air Pollution Control Officer Poiriez reported to the Board on the recent visit of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Acting Assistant Administrator for the Office of Air and Radiation Janet McCabe.

Imperial, California - The County of Imperial has been notified by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) that three airlines have submitted proposals to provide air travel services for the Imperial County Airport through the Essential Air Service (EAS) program.  Due to the emergency nature of the Request for Proposals (RFP) released by DOT just over two weeks ago, the public has until February 25, 2016 to review and submit comments relating to the proposals.

Salton City, California - El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Indio Station arrested a man suspected of drug smuggling at the Highway 86 checkpoint after they discovered packages of cocaine and methamphetamine hidden in the fuel tank of the vehicle on Wednesday.
