Sacramento, California - Shanntaye Ebony Hicks, 25, of Sacramento, was sentenced Thursday to 24 years and four months in prison for two counts of transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced.

Los Angeles, California - Two Salvadoran MS-13 gang members wanted in El Salvador for unrelated aggravated homicides were removed Wednesday by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers in Los Angeles, California.

Sacramento, California - A federal grand jury returned an indictment Thursday against a federal Department of Transportation employee charging him with receipt of child pornography, following a probe by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Department of Transportation’s Office of the Inspector General.

Sacramento, California - An additional portion of San Luis Obispo County has been placed under quarantine for the Asian citrus psyllid (ACP) following the detection of one psyllid within the City of Arroyo Grande, in the Highlands area.  The quarantine expansion adds 32 square miles, bringing the total quarantine area in San Luis Obispo County to 275 square miles.  The 32 square mile expansion is bordered on the north by Los Padres National Forest; on the south by the Southern Pacific Railroad; on the west by Georgia Avenue; and on the east by Villa Creek.

Sacramento, California - Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) got seven bills today out of Appropriations Committee and will next go to the Assembly floor for a vote.  Topping his bill list are two local measures, AB 965 (New River) and AB 1095 (Salton Sea), which will coordinate funding  for potential solutions to fix and clean the New River in Calexico and Salton Sea in the Coachella/Imperial Valleys.
