We strongly condemn the lack of political leadership to resolve this man-made conflict that has exacted a terrible cost over the past nearly 15 months. Along with the many friends and partners of South Sudan, we continue to work closely with the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in its efforts to bring an end to this senseless conflict.

Seoul, Korea - On Thursday in Seoul, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Mark Lippert underwent surgery to treat wounds to his face and hand following an assault earlier that day. He is currently recovering in the hospital. As the Ambassador tweeted Thursday afternoon from Seoul, he is doing well and in great spirits.
