Former U.S. Government Employee Charged in Computer Hacking and Cyber Stalking Scheme

Atlanta, Georgia - A former locally-employed staff member of the U.S. Embassy in London was charged with engaging in a hacking and cyberstalking scheme in which, using stolen passwords, he obtained sexually explicit photographs and other personal information from victims’ email and social media accounts, and threatened to share the photographs and personal information unless the victims ceded to certain demands.

Washington, DC - Using a Cessna 172 dropped from a height of 100 feet, NASA’s Search and Rescue Mission Office will simulate a severe but survivable plane accident Wednesday, August 26 to test emergency locator transmitters (ELTs). NASA Television will air live coverage of the test, which is scheduled to happen between 1 and 2 p.m. EDT.

Washington, DC - Almost all of the 41 million estimated contact lens wearers in the United States may be engaging in at least one behavior known to increase their risk of eye infections, according to a report published today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Nearly one-third of contact lens wearers who participated in a national survey reported going to the doctor for red or painful eyes related to wearing contact lenses.
Two Climbers Suffer Fatal Fall on Teewinot Mountain

Moose, Wyoming - The Jenny Lake Rangers, Teton Interagency Contract Helicopter, and emergency medical personnel swung into action just after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22 to assist two separate parties. The first and more serious accident consisted of a party of three climbers attempting to climb to the summit of Teewinot Mountain. Two of the climbers suffered a fatal fall of approximately 200 feet. The two climbers were Tyler Strandberg, 27, originally from Raleigh, North Carolina and Catherine Nix, 28, originally from Port Chester, New York. Both women were residents of Jackson, Wyoming.
