Washington, DC - Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Heather Higginbottom will host an event featuring Assistant to the President and White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough on November 16 at 9:30 a.m. in the U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin Franklin Room to bring together leaders in government, the private sector, foundations, and humanitarian organizations to forge new ideas and solutions for the refugee education crisis, with a particular focus on Turkey.
The Deputy Secretary will provide opening remarks along with Chief of Staff McDonough; Ali Osman Ozturk, Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister, Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Authority of Turkey; Anthony Lake, Executive Director, UNICEF; and Meighan Stone, President, Malala Fund.

Following the introductory remarks, attendees will hear from experts on the barriers that currently impede roughly 400,000 Syrian refugee children from receiving an education in Turkey and will work together to brainstorm creative partnerships and solutions.
