Washington, DC - The U.S. Department of State will hold the inaugural U.S.-Qatar Economic and Investment Dialogue on October 26, in Washington, D.C.
Secretary of State John Kerry and Secretary of Treasury Jacob J. Lew will launch the event with their Qatari counterparts, Foreign Minister Dr. Khaled al-Attiya and Minister of Finance Ali al-Emadi.
Qatar is a key strategic partner of the United States, and the two countries work closely across a range of issues. The Economic and Investment Dialogue represents a milestone that will strengthen a bilateral relationship that already includes record levels of trade and investment. In September, Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund, the Qatar Investment Authority, opened its first office in the United States with plans to invest $35 billion in the United States over the coming five years. In Qatar, American companies are achieving remarkable success and making important contributions to Qatar’s development strategy.
This inaugural U.S.-Qatar Economic and Investment Dialogue will highlight the close cooperation between the United States and Qatar and establishes a mechanism to further strengthen commercial and economic ties in the coming years.
