Washington, DC - Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Russel will depart Washington for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on October 6 to represent the United States at the East Asia Summit Senior Officials Meeting taking place October 8-9.
The East Asia Summit is the region’s premier forum for promoting regional cooperation on common political and security concerns. While in Kuala Lumpur, Assistant Secretary Russel will meet with Malaysian officials in their capacity as the official hosts for this year’s East Asia Summit. He will also engage leaders from throughout the region to discuss a range of bilateral and multilateral issues on the sidelines of the Senior Officials Meeting. Assistant Secretary Russel returns to Washington on October 10.
