Quito, Ecuador - The United States and Europol convened the Law Enforcement Coordination Group (LECG) on countering Hizballah’s Terrorist and Illicit Activities on June 13-14 in Quito, Ecuador. This session was also held under the auspices of Ameripol, with a number of its members participating.
This LECG meeting was the first to focus on the Americas, a region where Hizballah actively engages in the development of infrastructure that can support terrorist activities and associated criminal schemes.
Participants compared notes on Hizballah’s activities in their jurisdictions and strategized on how to bolster cooperation to counter this dangerous group.
The LECG will gather for its annual global meeting in Europe in late 2018, where more than 30 governments from across the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Africa, and North and South America – along with Europol and Interpol officials – will meet to discuss the Hizballah threat.
