Washington, DC - Ambassador Deborah L. Birx, U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator and U.S. Special Representative for Global Health Diplomacy, will travel to Geneva, Switzerland, May 22-25, as part of the U.S. delegation to the 71st World Health Assembly. Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex M. Azar II will lead the delegation, which will engage with counterparts on a host of priorities, including global health preparedness; support for maternal, child health and life issues; and the endgame for global polio eradication.
While in Geneva, Ambassador Birx will also meet with key partners of the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, including senior officials from ministries of health, international organizations, and the private sector.
