The United States and Malaysia enjoy a strong partnership rooted in close bonds between our people, dating to before the establishment of diplomatic relations six decades ago. Our long friendship with the people of Malaysia is emblematic of our enduring commitment to ensuring security and prosperity across the Asia-Pacific, and is why Kuala Lumpur is among the capitals I visited on my first trip to Southeast Asia earlier this month.
