Washington, DC - U.S. Special Envoy for Climate Change Todd Stern will travel September 15 – 16 to Los Angeles, California to represent the U.S. Department of State at the U.S.-China Climate Leaders Summit. Announced last November by President Obama and President Xi Jinping during the historic U.S.-China Joint Announcement on Climate Change, the Summit is the first official convening of U.S. and Chinese subnational leaders on climate change under the Climate Change Working Group.
The Summit represents a key opportunity to galvanize climate action before December’s United Nations climate conference in Paris. It will bring together local leaders from both countries for a multiple-day conference to discuss current climate action at a local level and form new partnerships and commitments for action.
