Washington, DC - Today, Congressman Juan Vargas (CA-51) issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s address announcing his Executive Action on immigration.
“I am very pleased that President Obama has decided to take Executive Action in order to address our broken immigration system. His plan will provide some stability to millions of American families that currently live in fear of being separated by the threat of deportation. Like Presidents before him, including Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, President Obama is acting within his lawful executive power to compassionately reform our current immigration system. This is a positive first step. I look forward to working in a bipartisan fashion with my colleagues in Congress to do our part and pass a comprehensive immigration bill.”
