Washington, DC - In Fiscal Year 2013, companies filed a total of 145 final patent dispute settlements, of which 29 created potential “pay-for-delay” agreements between branded and generic drug companies, according to a new Federal Trade Commission staff report. Although the number of potential pay-for-delay settlements is down from FY 2012, it is similar to FY 2010 and 2011.

Washington, DC - Global pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly and Company has agreed to divest its Sentinel product line of medications for treating heartworm disease in dogs in order to settle FTC charges that its proposed $5.4 billion acquisition of Novartis Animal Health would likely be anticompetitive. Under the proposed settlement, Eli Lilly will divest its Sentinel product line and associated assets to the French pharmaceutical company, Virbac S.A.
