Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:
Kevin Fat, 50, of Sacramento, has been reappointed to the California Travel and Tourism Commission, where he has served since 2014. Fat has been chief operating officer at the Fat Family Restaurant Group since 2013, where he has held several positions since 2003, including director of business administration, manager at Fat’s Asia Bistro and Fat City Bar and Cafe and general manager at Frank Fat’s Restaurant. He was project manager at Oracle Corporation from 2002 to 2003, where he worked as internal customer technical support from 1998 to 2002. Fat is a member of the Capital Region Family Business Center Board of Directors, Region Restaurants and the California Restaurant Association, Sacramento Chapter. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Fat is registered without party preference.
Robert Gleason, 52, of San Diego, has been appointed to the California Travel and Tourism Commission. Gleason has been director of the Los Angeles Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco since 2015 and president and chief executive officer at Evans Hotels since 2014, where he has held several positions since 1987, including chief financial officer and general counsel. He was a lecturer at San Diego State University from 2005 to 2009. Gleason earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Gleason is a Democrat.
John Kelliher, 53, of Temecula, has been reappointed to the California Travel and Tourism Commission, where he has served since 2016. Kelliher has been co-founder at Stryder Transportation since 2004 and at Grapeline Wine Tours since 2002. He is a member of the Visit Temecula Valley Board of Directors. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Kelliher is a Republican.
Ben Webster, 60, of Carmichael, has been reappointed to the California Travel and Tourism Commission, where he has served since 2015. Webster has been office managing shareholder of the Sacramento Office at Littler Mendelson P.C. since 2009. He was a partner at Pillsbury, Winthrop, Shaw and Pittman LLP from 1995 to 2009, where he was an associate from 1988 to 1995. Webster was a legislative and policy analyst at the Joint Maritime Congress from 1981 to 1984, legislative correspondent in the Office of Congressman Harold T. Johnson in 1980 and a law clerk for the Honorable Pasco M. Bowman at the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit from 1987 to 1988. He is a member of the Lassen Park Foundation Board of Directors. Webster earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Webster is a Democrat.
