Sacramento, California - The Office of Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced that Nancy McFadden, who served as executive secretary and chief of staff to the Governor since he took office in 2011, passed away last night, March 22, 2018, at her home in Sacramento in the company of family and friends after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer.
“Nancy was the best chief of staff a governor could ever ask for. She understood government and politics, she could manage, she was a diplomat and she was fearless. She could also write like no other,” said Governor Brown. “Nancy loved her job and we loved her doing it. This is truly a loss for me, for Anne, for our office, for Nancy’s family and close friends – and for all of California.”
In honor of Nancy McFadden, Capitol flags will be flown at half-staff.
