Washington, DC - Today, Congressman Juan Vargas (CA-51) announced the launch of the 2015 Congressional Art Competition. Every year, the Congressional Institute holds a high school art competition throughout the country to recognize young artists and their work. The winning art works from each congressional district are displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol.
“The Congressional Art Competition offers Members of Congress the chance to recognize the creative talents of high school students in their districts,” said Rep. Vargas. “During the 113th Congress, we received fantastic art pieces from students throughout the San Diego and Imperial Counties. I look forward to seeing what our young artists have in store this year and am delighted to have the chance to honor a student who will represent California’s 51st Congressional District among the 2015 winners.”
All high school students in the 51st Congressional District are invited to participate. The deadline to submit original works of art is April 17, 2015 at 5:00 PM.
