Champlain, New York - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Champlain Port of Entry seized a shipment of more than 500 counterfeit Nike ear buds and over 200 counterfeit Eclipse watches. The shipment had a Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) value of $22,599.
On July 24, CBP officers discovered ear buds and watches that appeared to be of poor quality while conducting inspections of commercial goods that had arrived from Canada. Further examination and investigation of the products determined that they were counterfeit.
"Counterfeit merchandise harms the economy, American consumers, retailers and trademark holders,” said CBP Port Director Steven Bronson. “Our import specialists and officers are highly trained in the enforcement of Intellectual Property Right laws and detecting counterfeit goods.”
CBP protects businesses and consumers on a daily basis through Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) enforcement program. If you have any information regarding suspected fraud or illegal trade activity, please contact CBP through the e-Allegations Online Trade Violations Reporting System or by calling 1-800-BE-ALERT. Additionally, IPR violations can also be reported to the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center or by calling 1-866-IPR-2060.
