Sacramento, California - We ended our Climate Smart Agriculture delegation visit last week by visiting the La Serena region of Chile. This region, North of Santiago, is a cool season agricultural region very similar to Ventura and Salinas, California. This region received little rain during the drought and there is an overall downward trend in how much water the region has been receiving over time.

Washington, DC - As part of a U.S. government-wide effort to combat corruption and facilitate asset recovery, the United States is co-hosting with the United Kingdom the inaugural Global Forum on Asset Recovery (GFAR) at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C. from December 4-6. Nairobi, Kenya - Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Judith Garber will travel to Nairobi, Kenya, December 4–6, to represent the United States at the third meeting of the United Nations Environmental Assembly (UNEA-3). The gathering will focus on ways governments, international organizations, and the private sector can work together toward reducing pollution globally. The U.S. delegation will promote U.S. leadership on pollution control and monitoring, and support private sector engagement and innovation within UNEA.
