El Centro, California - Last night, at approximately 1932 hours, an Imperial County Jail inmate identified as 46 year old Mario Navarro collapsed as he was being escorted into his jail housing module. Immediate medical aid was provided by jail staff. Imperial County Fire paramedics and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the jail, but Navarro was unable to be revived.

He had been booked and had just been processed into the ICSO Jail for a felony bench warrant.

The Imperial County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death and an autopsy will be scheduled for next week.
