El Centro, California - The Imperial County Board of Supervisors is soliciting interested individuals to serve on the Imperial County Board of Retirement and the Imperial County Assessment Appeals Board. There is one vacancy on each board whose members must be appointed by the Imperial County Board of Supervisors.
Imperial County Retirement Board Vacancy
The Imperial County Board of Retirement is seeking a member to serve a three year term. Applicants shall be a qualified elector of the county who is not connected with county government in any capacity. The Imperial County Board of Retirement is a nine member board, with two alternate members, who govern the Imperial County Employees’ Retirement System. A few of the duties of the Retirement Board members are to decide disability cases, make investment decisions, be a fiduciary for the retirement system, and attend retirement board meetings and education training.
Imperial County Assessment Appeals Board Vacancy
The Imperial County Assessment Appeals Board (ICAAB) is seeking a member to serve a two year term. The ICAAB conducts impartial hearings on property assessment disputes between taxpayers and the County Assessor. Based on the evidence presented at these hearings, the ICAAB determines the fair market value for the disputed property. Interested applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for appointment:

A minimum of five years’ professional experience in this state as a certified public accountant or public accountant, a licensed real estate broker, an attorney, a property appraiser accredited by a nationally recognized professional organization, or a property appraiser certified by the state office of real estate appraisers; or

Is a person who the nominating member of the Board of Supervisors has reason to believe is possessed of competent knowledge of property appraisal and taxation.
