El Centro, California - Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 10:45 a.m., the Imperial County Board of Supervisors are scheduled to conduct a public hearing to discuss funding applications under the State’s 2016-2017 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The Board is soliciting public input on potential activities and projects that may be included in the upcoming applications.
Every year the California Department of Housing and Community Development through its CDBG Program makes available grant funding through different allocations to provide a wide range of possible activities for community development needs. It is estimated that up to $2 million will be available in total in the state’s CDBG Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) to be published this year. Projects funded with CDBG allocations must meet one or more of the three national objectives, as follows: benefit low income households or persons, eliminate slums and blight, or meet urgent community development needs.
The purpose of this public hearing is to give Imperial County residents an opportunity to make their comments known regarding what types of eligible activities the County should apply for under the State CDBG Program. A separate public hearing will be held at a later date to discuss and approve the application prior to submittal to the State.
If you require special accommodations to participate in the public hearing or if you are unable to attend, please contact the Imperial County Community & Economic Development Office at (442) 265-1100 or direct comments to Imperial County Community & Economic Development, 940 West Main Street, Suite 203, El Centro, CA 92243.
