Brawley, California - In an effort to keep the public informed of upcoming changes in their community, the Imperial County Board of Supervisors would like to notify the community of Brawley and motorists on the Brawley Bypass that the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin construction in early January to install a new traffic signal on State Route 78 and Hovley Road in Brawley.
“We want to make the community aware of these upcoming changes, so that travelers can plan accordingly, be alert and drive safely in work zones and intersections,” said Chairman Ryan Kelley, who represents District 4 encompassing communities of northern Imperial County, including Brawley.
“I think it’s a great thing that a traffic light is being installed at this intersection,” said District 5 Supervisor Ray Castillo. “I am glad to see the state increase safety on the Brawley Bypass and address this dangerous intersection where several accidents have occurred.”
During the construction of the new signal light, the County is assisting Caltrans in reminding motorists to drive safely, obey all laws and to pay special attention to vehicles crossing at intersections.
