Imperial, California - The Imperial County Area Agency on Aging is hosting its 15th Annual Senior Appreciation Day on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Imperial Valley Fairgrounds Casa de Mañana Building.  This event is free to seniors and their caregivers.  There will be food, workshops, activities and door prizes.  Pure Inspiration and Calexico Ladies Danzon group will provide live entertainment.  Rosie Blankenship, Area Agency on Aging Director, encourages older adults and their caregivers to participate, “You won’t want to miss the announcement of the Senior Volunteer of the Year.

Every year we recognize a senior in the community that honorably dedicates their time and energy serving older adults in our community.”  The event is expecting to host over 800 seniors and caregivers.  This year’s theme is a Masquerade.  Prizes will be given to the Best Dressed Senior, Best Dressed Vendor, and Best Decorated Vendor Booth.

Participation in the Annual Senior Appreciation Day informs seniors, caregivers, and their families of the services and resources available to older adults in the County.  The Imperial County Area Agency on Aging provides the following services to seniors 60 years of age and older: Congregate Meals and Home Delivered Meals, In-Home Respite Care, Legal Assistance, Information and Assistance, Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, Nutrition Education, Senior Health Clinics, Transportation, CalFresh application assistance, and Alzheimer’s Education and Training.
