El Centro, California - On ASunday, just prior to 4 AM, Officers responded to the area of Hamilton and Railroad in the City of El Centro in reference to a possible shooting victim who was said to have been in the area just prior to the call. The victim was located in the area of the railroad in an empty lot. He was deceased at the time the officers located him.
The victim was identified as twenty-four-year-old El Centro resident Christopher Erasmo Torres. Torres was said to have been in the area with his brother when they were confronted by a male individual. After a brief verbal exchange, the suspect drew a firearm and fired multiple rounds in the direction of the pair. Torres was stuck by a projectile as a result of the confrontation. Officers contacted the Imperial County Coroner’s Office, Scientific Investigations Unit and the El Centro Police Department Criminal Investigations Division to begin a murder investigation.
