Calexico, California - Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia will be holding a press conference tomorrow with local officials regarding the introduction of the Border Air & Water Act (AWA) which would require the California Mexico Border Relations Council to better coordinate the funding and implementation of the New River Strategic Plan. The Act would also direct the CalEPA to improve air quality monitoring and better fund environmental improvement projects in the California-Mexico border region.
“We must seek solutions to create healthier border communities. It is our very own California-Mexico border communities that are most impacted by poor water and air quality standards. Our office will be working closely with local stakeholders like Comite Civico del Valle, City of Calexico and the New River Committee to make sure that the Border Air & Water Act (AWA) becomes a reality and bring the needed resources to our border region”, said Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia.
