Calexico, California - Border Patrol agents assigned to El Centro Sector arrested a gang member Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:51 a.m., after agents assigned to the Calexico Station arrested a man near half a mile east of the Calexico West Port of Entry for suspected illegal entry. Agents determined the man was a citizen of Mexico illegally present in the United States.
Border Patrol agents conducted record checks, which revealed 32-year-old, Hugo Juarez-Hernandez, had a previous criminal record. In 2005, Juarez was convicted for use of a firearm in a felony robbery and was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
Additionally, Juarez was removed from the United States on Mar. 13, 2018.
Juarez admitted to being a member of the Sureños 13 gang out of the city of Gardena and will be held pending criminal prosecution.
