Calexico, California - Monday, U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Calexico station on patrol discovered more than 1000 pounds of abandoned marijuana along the Alamo River with an estimated value of more than $628,000.
At approximately 3:45 a.m., agents discovered 84 packages of marijuana abandoned in the brush line along the river, located approximately 7 miles east of Calexico West Port of Entry.
The marijuana had a total weight of 1048 pounds with an estimated street value of more than $628,000 and were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
Last fiscal year El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents seized 5,713 pounds of marijuana.
