El Centro, California - On Tuesday, the Imperial County Board of Supervisors announced the appointment of Public Health Director Robin Hodgkin as the Interim County Executive Officer (CEO) following the recent retirement announcement of Ralph Cordova, Jr. Mrs. Hodgkin will serve as Interim CEO effective immediately. The Imperial County Board of Supervisors appointed Danila Vargas to serve as Interim Public Health Director while Mrs. Hodgkin is to lead the county.
“Mrs. Hodgkin has done an outstanding job during her 27-year tenure with the county,” stated Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Michael W. Kelley. “The Board is unanimously supportive of Mrs. Hodgkin and we are confident in her ability to lead the county during this transitional period. Under her leadership, the Public Health Department has enhanced the health of our communities by working with partner agencies to promote wellness, prevent diseases and ensure access to health care.”
Mrs. Hodgkin has been an employee of the County of Imperial since 1990, when she was initially hired as the EMS Coordinator and has since served in several positions, including an Analyst, Assistant Director, and Director of the Imperial County Public Health Department.
About her new position, Mrs. Hodgkin stated, “I am honored and feel privileged to have the opportunity to serve the county in this capacity during this important transition. I am dedicated to working closely with our Board and department heads to serve this community and I look forward to what the future brings.”
Mrs. Hodgkin, a resident of El Centro, received two bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Philosophy from the University of Iowa as well as a Masters in Public Administration from San Diego State University.
