Calexico, California - On Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at approximately 4:30 pm Imperial County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the AM/PM on Yourman Road in reference to a customer advising clerks she and her family were being kidnapped and being held at knife point by male suspect in the vehicle. The victim advised the suspect demanded that they drive him to San Diego. After the clerk called 911, a look out for the vehicle was broadcasted to all agencies.
The vehicle was located near the San Diego/Imperial County Line and was stopped by California Highway Patrol, U.S. Border Patrol and ICSO. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and was found to be in possession of a Shobi-Zue knife.
Sheriff’s Investigators interviewed the victims and suspect and discovered the incident began at the Jack in the Box parking lot on Imperial Avenue in Calexico. The suspect was booked and charged with, Kidnapping, Carjacking, Unlawful Imprisonment, Threat of Bodily Injury, Possession of Shobi-Zue and Brandishing a Knife.
The suspect was identified as 20 yr. old Brian Daniel Alatorre from San Diego, California. Bail is currently set at $100,000.
