Vernon, California - California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Director Dr. Karen Smith today warned consumers with allergies to milk not to eat Spinach Dip manufactured by La Mexicana Food Products because it contains milk as an ingredient, which is not declared on the product label.

People who have milk allergies risk life-threatening reactions if these products are consumed. To date, no illnesses have been reported. Product photographs of La Mexicana Spinach Dip are available on the CDPH website.

La Mexicana Food Products of Vernon, California, has initiated a voluntary recall of the product after a routine inspection by CDPH identified the labeling deficiency.

The Spinach Dip is packaged in a 14-ounce clear plastic container. The product is white in color, with pieces of spinach visible throughout. The lid has a green and yellow circular border with "La Mexicana" in white lettering. The center of the lid has "Spinach Dip" in green lettering, with a picture of fresh spinach.

The products were distributed to retail grocery stores in California, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Kansas, and Maryland.

Consumers in possession of these products should return them to the place of purchase for refund or dispose of them in the trash.
