Boerne, Texas - Marathoners in Boerne, signed up for the town’s big racing event in droves. In fact, says the Association of Mature American Citizens, they had to shut down registration early this year. It’s no wonder. 

The 0.5K contest starts out with a free pint of beer for all contestants and includes a coffee and doughnut break at the half way mark. Approximately 10 minutes later, at the end of the “race,” the runners will head off to the nearby Cibolo Creek Brewery for another free beer and a chance “to relive the experience, brag to our friends, take selfies to post on social media.” It’s all for a good cause, Blessings in a Backpack which provides meals for kids in need.
