Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the appointment of Craig B. Van Rooyen to a judgeship in the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court.
Van Rooyen, 49, of San Luis Obispo, has served as a deputy district attorney at the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office since 2007. He was a partner at Bingham, McCutchen LLP from 2005 to 2007, where he was an associate from 2000 to 2005. Van Rooyen served as a deputy district attorney at the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office from 1996 to 2000. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Andrews University. Van Rooyen fills the vacancy created by the conversion of a court commissioner position on November 25, 2015. He is a Democrat.
The compensation for this position is $189,041.
