Costa Mesa, California - A youth volleyball coach from Orange County was arrested Wednesday by investigators from the multi-agency Orange County Child Exploitation Task Force (OCCETF) on state charges for allegedly sending sexually explicit material to a minor electronically.
Troy Linehan Crutchfield, 26, of Costa Mesa, is suspected of taking and sending lewd videos of himself to a minor. He was taken into custody at his Costa Mesa residence early Wednesday morning by members of the OCCETF and investigators assigned to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Detail. Crutchfield was subsequently booked into the Orange County Jail with his bond set at $100,000.
The investigation leading to Crutchfield’s arrest began last month after an investigator with the OCCETF received information regarding an underage female victim who was having inappropriate conversations with a man online. During Wednesday’s enforcement action investigators also executed a search warrant at Crutchfield’s residence, seizing a variety of evidence related to the case.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims. Crutchfield has been employed or volunteered as a volleyball coach at multiple locations, including California State University, Long Beach; SCA Club Volleyball in Huntington Beach; Huntington Beach High School; and Long Beach City College. He currently provides private volleyball lessons and has for several years.
Anyone with information that may be relevant to this ongoing investigation, including leads on possible additional victims, is urged to contact Orange County Sheriff’s Investigator S.
