Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:
Jacquelyn Ellen Crabtree, 45, of Sacramento, has been reappointed to the California Humanities Board of Directors, where she has served since 2015. Crabtree has been owner of four Aveda Salon and Spa stores since 2005. She was manager and a hairstylist at Maida’s Touch Salon from 1999 to 2005 and a bookkeeper at Wild Carter and Oliver Law Firm from 1991 to 1999. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Crabtree is a Democrat.
Fritz Friedman, 65, of West Hollywood, has been reappointed to the California Humanities Board of Directors, where he has served since 2013. Friedman has been president at the Fritz Friedman Company and an adjunct professor at the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism since 2014. He was senior vice president of worldwide publicity at Sony Pictures Entertainment from 1980 to 2014. Friedman earned a Master of Arts degree in communication from the University of Pennsylvania Annenberg School for Communication. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Friedman is a Democrat.
Alice Y. Hom, 48, of Los Angeles, has been reappointed to the California Humanities Board of Directors, where she has served since 2012. Hom has been a consultant at Hom Consulting since 2016. She held several positions at Asian Americans-Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy from 2007 to 2016, including director and philanthropic advocacy manager. She was a director at the Occidental College Intercultural Community Center from 2001 to 2006. Hom held several positions at the Getty Research Institute and Getty Information Institute from 1992 to1999, including project management consultant, research assistant and program assistant. She was a program coordinator at the Scripps College Asian American Student Union from 1994 to 1996. Hom earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in history from the Claremont Graduate University and a Master of Arts degree in Asian American studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Hom is a Democrat.
Brenda Louise Wright, 74, of San Francisco, has been reappointed to the California Humanities Board of Directors, where she has served since 2012. Wright has been senior vice president, manager of Community Relations West at Wells Fargo since 2001, where she has held several positions since 1985, including senior vice president of premier banking and vice president district manager. She is a founding member and former president of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and a founder and member of the Museum of the African Diaspora Emeritus Board. Wright is a member of the Women’s Foundation of California Board and the Spark San Francisco Public Schools Board of Directors. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Wright is a Democrat.
