Los Angeles, California - A West Hollywood man was sentenced to 152 months in federal prison for orchestrating a real estate fraud scheme that victimized more than 2,000 homeowners, involved fraudulent filings that affected the title to properties across the country and caused more than $7 million in losses.

San Diego, California - A federal jury convicted Andrew Hackett, a Canadian citizen who previously resided in Toronto, Canada, of participating in a securities fraud pump-and-dump scheme surrounding the publicly-traded stock of a small company.

Los Angeles, California - The Justice Department announced Friday that it has reached an agreement to resolve a lawsuit alleging that Filomeno Hernandez, a property manager of residential apartment buildings near MacArthur Park in Los Angeles, violated the federal Fair Housing Act by sexually harassing female tenants since at least 2006.

San Francisco, California - San Mateo County Medical Center and San Mateo County (collectively SMMC), located in California, have agreed to pay approximately  $11.4 million to resolve alleged violations of the False Claims Act for submitting or causing the submission of claims to Medicare for non-covered inpatient admissions.

San Juan, Puerto Rico - A federal grand jury in San Juan, Puerto Rico, returned a three-count indictment charging Jordany Rafael Laboy García, Christian Yamaurie Rivera Otero and Anthony Steven Lobos Ruiz with hate crimes for assaulting a transgender woman because of her gender identity. Rivera Otero and Lobos Ruiz were also charged with obstruction of justice.
