Eastern Sierras, California - Anglers in the Eastern Sierras will get an early holiday gift this year, an extra 60,000 fish to try and catch.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) will be putting catchable rainbow trout into Inyo County waters beginning this week, these fish are additional plants are above and beyond the normal stocking schedule for this time of year.

“CDFW encourages families to fish in California’s streams, rivers and lakes during the holiday season,” said CDFW Fishery Program Manager Bill Cox. “It’s inexpensive and local fun, you can share equipment and enjoy being outside as a family.”

The fish are scheduled to go into Diaz Lake, Pleasant Valley Reservoir, Owens River (all sections), West Walker River and Topaz Lake over the next four weeks.

CDFW reminds anglers that everyone over 16 must have a fishing license in their possession while fishing and all size and bag limits apply. Complete fishing regulations can be found at https://www.wildlife.ca.gov/Fishing.
