Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:
Leslie R. Lopez, 55, of Sacramento, has been appointed deputy director and chief counsel at the California Department of General Services. Lopez has served as deputy secretary and general counsel at the California Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency since 2013. She served as general counsel at the California State and Consumer Services Agency from 2007 to 2013 and as a deputy attorney general in the Government Law Section at the California Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General from 1994 to 2007. She was a deputy city attorney in the Sacramento City Attorney’s Office from 1990 to 1994 and an associate at Matteoni, Saxe and Nanda from 1987 to 1990. Lopez earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Santa Clara University, School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $149,004. Lopez is registered without party preference.
Peter M. Williams, 47, of Sacramento, has been appointed general counsel at the California Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency. Williams has been a supervisor in the Financial Fraud and Special Prosecutions Unit at the California Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General since 2015, where he has served as a deputy attorney general since 2001. He has been a cross-designated special federal prosecutor at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of California and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Central District of California since 2010. Williams has been co-founder of the Tax Recovery and Criminal Enforcement Task Force since 2014. He was an associate at Boutin Jones Inc. from 2000 to 2001. Williams earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $153,012. Williams is a Democrat.
