Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:
Andrew Campbell, 23, of Oakdale, has been appointed to the California Community Colleges Board of Governors. Campbell has been a student services representative in the Office of Congressman Jeff Denham since 2015. He was an event sales cashier at Modesto Junior College from 2014 to 2015 and an apprentice at Norquist Heating, Air Conditioning and Sheet Metal Company in 2012. Campbell is pursuing an Associate of Arts degree in business administration at Modesto Junior College. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Campbell is registered without party preference.
Hasun Khan, 21, of Bakersfield, has been appointed to the California Community Colleges Board of Governors. Khan was a judicial operations intern at the Los Angeles County Superior Court in 2015 and an animator and graphic designer at HitRecord in 2014. He is pursuing an Associate of Arts degree in computer science at Berkeley City College. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Khan is a Democrat.
Talibah Al-Rafiq, 64, of Mokelumne Hill, has been appointed to the 39th District Agricultural Association, Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee Board of Directors, where she has served since 2004. Al-Rafiq has been chief executive officer and owner at the California Cashmere Company since 1990. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Al-Rafiq is a Republican.
Katherine Campbell, 54, of San Andreas, has been reappointed to the 39th District Agricultural Association, Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee Board of Directors, where she has served since 2003. Campbell has served as a teacher for the Calaveras Unified School District since 1996. She was a realtor at Howard Little Real Estate from 1989 to 1995 and chief of the Stockton Record’s Mother Lode Bureau from 1983 to 1989. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Campbell is a Democrat.
Evan Garamendi, 70, of Mokelumne Hill, has been reappointed to the 39th District Agricultural Association, Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee Board of Directors, where she has served since 2012. Garamendi served as a teacher for the Calaveras Unified School District from 1969 to 2003. She is a member of the Calaveras County Arts Council and the Mokelumne Hill Lions Club. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Garamendi is a Republican.
Darrin Mills, 41, of Murphys, has been appointed to the 39th District Agricultural Association, Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee Board of Directors, where he has served since 2009. Mills has been owner and manager at Distinctive Metals since 2001. He was a secretary at Angels Sheet Metal from 1995 to 2001. Mills is a member of the Bret Harte Union High School Future Farmers of America Booster Club. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Mills is a Republican.
Bob Trinchero, 74, of Angels Camp, has been appointed to the 39th District Agricultural Association, Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee Board of Directors, where he has served since 1999. Trinchero was a partner and owner at Priority Realtors from 2007 to 2014, a developer and golf course manager at Greenhorn Creek Resort from 1999 to 2002 and a marketing manager and limited partner at Greenhorn Creek Development Corporation from 1994 to 1999. He was a professor and university administrator at California State University, East Bay from 1968 to 1993. Trinchero earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in psychological measurement from Stanford University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Trinchero is a Democrat.
Steven Wooster, 66, of Copperopolis, has been appointed to the 39th District Agricultural Association, Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee Board of Directors, where he has served since 2010. Wooster has been owner and operator at Wooster Ranch since 1988. He is a member of the California Cattlemen’s Association and the Calaveras County Junior Livestock Boosters. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Wooster is a Republican.
