San Francisco, California - The FBI is announcing the capture and arrest of fugitive Ruben Lopez Ramirez wanted for the 1997 murder of the owner of Lowrider Hydraulics in San Jose.

In recent months, FBI agents in Mexico tracked Lopez-Ramirez to the Guadalajara area. On October, 15, he was arrested by members of Mexican law enforcement. Lopez-Ramirez is a Mexican national and will be prosecuted and tried in Mexico for his crimes committed in the United States.

Since 1997, Ruben Lopez Ramirez and his brother David have been wanted by the FBI. The case has been featured numerous times on America’s Most Wanted.

The Lopez brothers had operated a business called Red’s Hydraulics in Long Beach, California. Red’s Hydraulics was in fierce competition with San Jose’s Low Rider Hydraulics in the lucrative custom-lowrider car parts supply industry.

Investigators believe that David and Ruben Lopez ordered the murder of one of the owners of Low Rider Hydraulics, Leonard Miller.

The homicide was ultimately perpetrated by three individuals associated with the Mexican Mafia, at the direction of the Lopez brothers. All three were charged and found guilty for the murder. David and Ruben fled.

Today, David Lopez Ramirez remains a fugitive wanted by the FBI. A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest.

The FBI continues to work with local law enforcement to apprehend violent criminals charged with state crimes who then flee the jurisdiction interstate or internationally.
