Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:
Lisa Crowe, 54, of Sacramento, has been appointed chief deputy commissioner at the California Department of Business Oversight. Crowe has been division chief of the Payroll and Personnel Services Division at the California State Controller’s Office since 2010. She served in several positions at the California Franchise Tax Board from 1997 to 2010, including division chief of the Administrative Services, Accounts Receivable Management and Filing divisions. Crowe is a certified public accountant and earned a Master of Science degree in taxation from California State University, Hayward. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $146,148. Crowe is a Democrat.
Paula Cardoza, 44, of Mount Shasta, has been appointed to the 10th District Agricultural Association, Siskiyou Golden Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2010. Cardoza has been owner at the Mount Shasta Tire Factory since 2003. She was a bookkeeper at Les Schwab Tire Center from 1996 to 2003. Cardoza is a wish granter at the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Cardoza is a Republican.
Brandon Fawaz, 35, of Etna, has been appointed to the 10th District Agricultural Association, Siskiyou Golden Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2006. Fawaz has been owner at Fawaz Farming since 1995. He is a member of the Siskiyou County Office of Education Board of Trustees, Etna Union High School Agricultural Advisory Committee and the Siskiyou County Farm Bureau. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Fawaz is a Republican.
Jason Finley, 41, of Fort Jones, has been appointed to the 10th District Agricultural Association, Siskiyou Golden Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2010. Finley has been owner and operator at Finely Farming since 1984. He is a member of the California Farm Bureau Federation. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Finley is a Republican.
Judd Hanna, 44, of Etna, has been appointed to the 10th District Agricultural Association, Siskiyou Golden Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2005. Hanna has been an adjunct English teacher at the College of the Siskiyous since 1999 and ranch manager and owner at Hanna Bros Ranch since 1984. He earned a Master of Arts degree in English from the University of the Pacific. This positon does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Hanna is registered without party preference.
Darrin Mercier, 48, of Montague, has been appointed to the 10th District Agricultural Association, Siskiyou Golden Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2001. Mercier has been an attorney and owner at the Law Offices of Darrin W. Mercier since 1998. He was a partner and attorney at Friedman, Rau Marto and Mercier from 1996 to 1998 and at Eason and Mercier from 1994 to 1996. Mercier is vice chair of the Fairchild Medical Center Board of Directors, an ex-officio member of the Madrone Hospice House Board and a member of the Yreka Rotary Club, California Cattlemen’s Association and the 10th District Agricultural Association Junior Livestock Committee. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Mercier is a Republican.
Jo Peterson, 63, of Fort Jones, has been reappointed to the 10th District Agricultural Association, Siskiyou Golden Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2012. Peterson has been president at Jo Peterson Designworks since 1993. She was owner at Jo Peterson and Associates from 1974 to 1993. Peterson is a member of the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team, International Code Council and the American Civil Liberties Union. Dena Rizzardo, 35, of Yreka, has been appointed to the 10th District Agricultural Association, Siskiyou Golden Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2010. Rizzardo has held several positions at Scott Valley Bank since 1999, including associate vice president, senior credit analyst and mortgage loan specialist.
