Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Luis Vance Taylor, 37, of Alexandria, VA, has been appointed chief of access and functional needs at the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services. Taylor has been a principal at Catalyst Partners LLC since 2008 and an independent disability rights advocate and motivational speaker since 2000. He was director of homeland security policy at the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies from 2005 to 2008, a legislative aide in the Office of Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren from 2004 to 2005 and a congressional aide in the Office of Congressman Mike Thompson from 2002 to 2004. Taylor was director of the Napa County Office of Education Community Challenge Grant Program from 1999 to 2000. He is a subject matter expert for the National Infrastructure Advisory Council and a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce National Security Task Force, Washington Homeland Security Roundtable and the Muscular Dystrophy Association National Task Force on Public Awareness. Taylor earned a Master of Professional Studies degree in homeland security from the University of Connecticut. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $114,144. Taylor is a Democrat.
Deidre Robinson, 59, of Vacaville, has been appointed to the California Board of Accountancy. Robinson has been director of strategic alliances at Golden Gate University since 2007. She was a manager of corporate education at the University of Phoenix, Western Region from 2000 to 2006, a business manager at Dun and Bradstreet from 1995 to 2000 and a training manager at the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office from 1988 to 1995. Robinson is a member of the California Advisory Council on Military Education, Society for Human Resource Management, Golden Gate University Human Resource Management Advisory Committee and the CoachArt San Francisco Board and is vice treasurer of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Tau Upsilon Omega Chapter. Robinson earned a Master of Science degree in human resource management from Golden Gate University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Robinson is a Democrat.
