Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:
Anne Neville, 38, of Sacramento, has been appointed director of the California Research Bureau effective June 10, 2015. Neville has served as director of product development for BroadbandUSA at the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Telecommunications and Information Administration since 2014, where she has been director of the State Broadband Initiative since 2009. She was a global leadership fellow at the World Economic Forum from 2008 to 2009 and served as assistant secretary for economic development and technology at the California Business Transportation and Housing Agency in 2008, where she was manager of the California Broadband Initiative from 2007 to 2008. Neville was a senior analyst at the California Public Utilities Commission from 2006 to 2007, a senate fellow and legislative aide in the Office of California State Senator Sheila Kuehl from 2004 to 2006 and a program associate at the Community Technology Center Network from 2002 to 2004. Neville was director and founder of the Cyber Y Community Technology Center at the YMCA of San Diego from 2000 to 2002. She is a member of the U.S. Department of Commerce Open Data and Geospatial Working Groups. She earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Southern California. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $131,004. Neville is a Democrat.
Deidra Lowe, 64, of Hillsborough, has been appointed to the California Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, where she has served since 2008. Lowe was an attorney at Hanna, Brophy, MacLean, McAleer and Jensen from 1985 to 2008, house counsel at Metz, Johnson and Larson from 1981 to 1985 and an attorney at Green and Azevedo from 1979 to 1981. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $134,591. Lowe is a Republican.
Jose Razo, 64, of San Mateo, has been appointed to the California Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board. Razo has been an associate attorney at Laughlin, Falbo, Levy and Moresi since 2006. He was a partner at Pasternak and Razo from 1981 to 2006 and an associate attorney at Garry, Dreyfus, McTernan and Walsh from 1978 to 1981 and at the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County from 1977 to 1978. Razo earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego, School of Law. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $134,591. Razo is a Democrat.
Andrew Mendoza, 45, of Stockton, has been appointed to the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley. Mendoza has been a community and government relations manager at Kaiser Permanente Central Valley Area’s Public Affairs Office since 2006. He served as a business and development manager at the City of San Jose Redevelopment Agency from 2000 to 2006 and chief of staff for San Jose City Council member Charlotte Powers from 1995 to 2000. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Mendoza is a Republican.
