Washington, DC - Corn Maiden Foods, Inc., a Harbor City, California establishment, added an additional item to the recalled products list, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The product should have been part of the original 15,600 pounds of pork products that were recalled on April 11, 2015. Therefore, the poundage has not changed. The products contain hydrolyzed soy protein, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.
The following products are subject to recall:
- 20.625 lb. cases containing 60 5.5 oz. pieces of “Tamales with Pork Carnitas, Green Chile & Oregano Wrapped in Corn Husks.”
- 9.375 lb. cases containing 60 2.5 oz. pieces of “Tamales with Pork Carnitas, Green Chile & Oregano Wrapped in Corn Husks.”
On April 11, 2015, the company recalled 15,600 pounds of pork tamales, pork Yucatan, and beef brisket taquitos items that were produced on various dates between April 9, 2014 and April 8, 2015. - 20.625 lb. cases containing 60 5.5 oz. pieces of “Tamales with Pork Sante Fe Green Chile Wrapped in Corn Husks.”
- 9.375 lb. cases containing 60 2.5 oz. pieces of “Tamales with Pork Sante Fe Green Chile Wrapped in Corn Husks.”
- 24 lb. cases containing 3 8lb. vacuum sealed packages of “Border Grill Pork Yucatan.”
- 15 lb. cases containing 100 2.7 oz. pieces of “Border Grill [Beef] Brisket Taquitos.”
The products subject to recall bear the establishment number “EST. 20949” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to hotels, restaurants and institutional locations in California.
The problem was discovered by FSIS in-plant personnel during routine verification activities.
FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.
